Unicychos and Blackouts started out our cold and wet week (someone forgot to tell Mississippi Sunset how cold it was) and the Unicychos put it away in a near shutout but the Blackouts quarterback, Platypus, was able to secure at least one run in for a touchdown.
The Gnarwhals and Harvey Street Herons duked it out in a back-and-forth battle of the quarterbacks. This high scoring game consisted of only run touchdowns by the respective quarterbacks. The Harvey Street Herons came away with the when as the time ran dry on the Gnarwhals.
This week's matches may have been opposite of what we were ready for. Game 2 was expected to be a great duel between two top-tier teams, the Unicychos and the Ill Eagles, but it was nearly a shutout for the Unicychos as the Ill Eagles were not able to make but one connection into the end zone. Frustrations played part into some foul play in the end as the high stakes wore through the players heed.
Game 1 on the other hand, became a real nailbiter! Two hopefuls, the Gnarwhals and Hell-on-Wheel battled it out to aid their losing records of 1-4. The Gnarhwals led the way until Hell-on-Wheel made a comeback streak and took the lead with 24 seconds remaining. The Gnarwhals kept the attack on high and returned a run for a touchdown with just enough time for Hell-on-Wheel to attempt a kick return and one last play. A long toss to the end-zone was unsuccessful and the Gnarhwals held on to the victory.
Week 12: Gnarwhals were defeated by the undefeated Hot Dogs at the new armory field
Week 13: The Ill Eagles battled Hell-on-wheel for this week's first game. A strong a persistent offense put many points on the board for the Ill Eagles and led them to continue their strong win streak.
During the second match of the eager Harvey Street Herons and the undefeated Los Bierdos the fans were kept on their feet by the excitement. The scores were back and forth the entire game as it was neck-and-neck. The game came down to the very last wire as Los Bierdos were making a strong push to secure only 3 more points to win but fell short at the goal-line as the clock ran out and no time-outs left. The Harvey Street Herons came away with the upset victory to put an end to the 5-game winning streak of Los Bierdos, and bumped the Hot Dogs into first place.
