The Harvey St. Herons catch everyone by surprise when they charged full force against the Unicychos and held the lead until late in the second half. Unfortunately for the hopeful team, just a few too many mistakes allowed the Unicychos to catch up and surpass the Herons for a final time with only 11 seconds remaining. The first year team continues to impress the crowd against the strongest teams in the league. This loss moves the Ill Eagles up to 4th place and the Herons down to 5th, they have a tied record but Ill Eagles have taken two wins against the Herons.
Hell-on-wheel brings talent to every match but still have been unable to secure more than one victory for the season. They played very well against Los Bierdos for most of the game but the side-winder run tactics of Vito Scardello and the amazing catches by Wobbles proved too much to defeat. Los bierdos secure the win and remain tied with the Unicychos as they both stand at 9-2.
Gnarwhals secured their fourth victory against the blackouts during this week's first game. The second game has been rescheduled due to an injured roster. For fun, the Ill Eagles challenged "the world" in an all-star battle of some of the top players in the league. The break from concern over how your team will place in the standings was welcome and brought back some true just-for-fun action that was extremely entertaining.
Super Bowl Pre-game Ad.
Today a video produced by our very own Coin Purse entered the national spotlight once again in a Pizza Hut Super Bowl game day commercial.
Unicychos (W) vs Hell-on-Wheel (L) and Ill Eagles (W) vs Herons (L)
Even with the super bowl going on we couldn't be happier to get out in the cold and play some rugged Unicycle Football. Unicychos and Hell-on-wheel warmed us up with an absolute slaughtering that gave the Unicychos their 8th win and a seat tied for first place with Los Bierdos.
Game 2 was the best game we've seen at the new field and the action kept the crowd roaring. The second bird-on-bird match up of the season had the Ill Eagles and Harvey Street Herons mash it out. Just like the first match up of these two teams, the Herons brought some textbook game-play to the field and secured a two score lead by half-time over the Ill Eagles. Mistakes and turnovers became the Ill Eagles ally as they made their comeback through the second half of the game. Heavy pressure by both teams kept the game very close but as the time wound down the Herons could only come within 2 points of the victory. The Ill Eagles won 50-48.
