Season 3! If you missed it last Sunday, we had the Season 3 opener featuring a doubleheader. At 2pm, the Hot Dogs got their asses handed to them by the Unicychos. I think Turbo should watch out, because after dislocating Larry Gunn's shoulder it looks like the Hot Dogs might put a hit out on him. The game started out close, but after halftime the 'cychos turned up the heat and grilled the Hot Dogs.
At 4pm, the very newest UFL team the Berzerkers played the Gnarwhals. I have to say, these guys have been busting ass trying to get in gear for the game and looked pretty good. I think they have a good shot at beating the Hot Dogs this year. Nevertheless, the Gnarwhals were victorious by a final score of 58-0.
Thanks to all of the fans who came out to watch the game! Our games are now on Sunday afternoons at 4pm. We will have merch including T-shirts, koozies and temporary tattoos at the game, and will be holding raffles for awesome gift cards and other San Marcos stuff.
Gotta give a shout out to our newest sponsor, The Hub. Check 'em out if you are ever on the square and need bike or unicycle stuff.

So if you missed Stupor Bowl II, I feel for you. You missed an awesome game between the San Marcos Unicychos and Miami Gnarwhals. By the way, congratulations to the San Marcos Unicychos on kicking our asses 34-12 in Stupor Bowl II, you guys earned it. By my rough estimate, I would say the crowd was well over 200, and somewhere close to 300 people watched at least part of the game. We had a very successful raffle, and one lucky kid won a new UFL-approved unicycle. In addition to playing a great halftime show, Furly (of Unsurpassed Profit) provided an awesome Narwhal painting to the raffle and a kick ass Narwhal mascot head! Thanks Furly! The afterparty with Henry and the Invisibles and One Eyed Doll was amazing as usual. I think they are becoming a Stupor Bowl tradition.
Also, shirts are still available! Hot Dogs and Unicychos shirts, specifically. Gnarwhals shirts coming soon! If you are interested in buying a shirt, check out our merch page and support your favorite Unicycle Football League team!
If you were at the game, and took pictures or video that you wouldn't mind sharing with us and other UFL fans, could you send me an email at ks1172@txstate.edu? I'd love to get it up on the site ASAP.
Last but not least, keep an eye out for the UFL in the media. News 8 Austin came out for the Stupor Bowl and did a little interview with Larry Gunn and filmed a portion of the game, so that should have been on the news last night. I believe the University Star did another story on us as well. Also, on Saturday we filmed some shots for a Unicycle Football scene in a movie called "Campus Radio" by independent filmmaker Aaron James Sorensen. I can't wait to see the end result! I know people are looking at the site, because I found this on the web yesterday - CHECK IT OUT
Much love to our sponsors Tantra Coffeehouse, The Hub and Ozone Bikes for supporting Unicycle Football as it goes into its third season

Season Two is finally over. Last Monday, the Miami Narwhals beat the San Marcos Hot Dogs 18-12 in the league playoff game to determine who would play the Unicychos in Stupor Bowl II.
Speaking of, Stupor Bowl II?? Crazy, right? We play on November 16th, in our old field across from Tantra Coffeehouse. I predict a much bigger crowd than Stupor Bowl I (which by several accounts was more than 200 people) and a pretty sweet afterparty. Also, I can't believe how fast the league is growing. Our fourth team is forming right now and will be playing next season. We have a ton of things in the works that are going to kick some serious ass when they are finished. All the teams should have some professional quality shirts out soon ready for purchase, and we've been hearing a lot of demand for shirts so if you want one be quick, because they are going to sell out fast.
I'd also like to encourage everyone that is interested in the UFL to sign up and post on our forums. We welcome anyone out to our practices, even if you can't ride a unicycle. The majority of UFL players learned to ride a unicycle to be in the league, so there are plenty of people willing to help new riders and players out.
Last but not least, there are some things I wanted to mention about the UFL in the media. Some of you may have heard, but we will be doing a shoot for a movie called Campus Radio here in San Marcos. I believe it is on November 15th, the day before Stupor Bowl II, and if you are interested, contact Marcus at mg1357@txstate.edu. I also found another article about us on the web. Check it out below.

It has been a little while since the last update, so I'll bring everyone up to speed with what has been going on in Unicycle Football world. We have been retooling the teams, and are glad to have all the new recruits we picked up after Stupor Bowl I. (Seriously, I think San Marcos is still talking about how bad ass it turned out to be.) The first game of the season saw the Miami Narwhals taking a beating from the Unicychos due to the absence of key players Babypunch and J-Bozz. Game two is tomorrow, and the Narwhals (hopefully) are going to come out and dominate.
Also, if you google Unicycle Football now, we have a lot of exposure out on the web after Stupor Bowl I. There seems to be some negativity towards our beloved game here, but most of it seems to come from a couple of sports themed forums or something. Here's a quote by a member of an Ultimate Fighting community posted on their message board.
"This may be the gayest yet funniest attempt of a new sport I have ever seen. I thought the XFL was bad."
Here's another, from a sports blog called With Leather.
"A dense concentration of hipsters in San Marcos, Texas (apparently they were driven away from Austin by more powerful tribes of hipsters) has led to the formation of the Unicycle Football League, despite founder Marcus Garland's unshakable confidence in his creations. "I always try ideas and usually they fail," he says. I'm the same way with sex crimes, sadly."
Man, if we had hipsters, we'd be so much cooler. Instead we just have a bunch of beer drinkin', unicycle ridin' slackers...HEY WAIT, MAYBE WE ARE HIPSTERS!
Anyways, I think it is awesome that we have gotten this much attention already. Bring on Season TWO!

We have been working with Media Design on our first DVD and I really can't say too much...but it is going to be AWESOME! Hopefully it will be done very soon. I'd go as far as to say that it might be the best DVD of anything...ever.
Also, it is Sunday morning, so I go check the Austin American Statesman website and sure enough...Unicycle Football has a really awesome story you can read by clicking here. Update-I just walked over to the gas station and grabbed a paper...Unicycle Football made the front page of the Metro & State section. Turbo Van Winkle #1337 is looking fierce in the main shot.

It looks to be a pretty crazy time for the UFL right now. We just finished our first ever championship game, Stupor Bowl I. The Hot Dogs took it in overtime over the Unicychos. We had a great turnout (probably over 150 people) and an awesome game. The game was filmed for us by one of our awesome sponsors -Media Design - in HD so we are looking to have a DVD of the game for sale soon. Thanks Media Design! We also had a halftime show with Unsurpassed Profit, and a killer afterparty with Henry and the Invisibles as well as One Eyed Doll. We'd also like to thank our other sponsors, Tantra Coffeehouse and Ozone Bikes. Check them out!
Also, we have been getting a lot of media interest in the UFL lately. We have a new feature on Newstreamz talking about the Stupor Bowl. (We also had a previous writeup in Newstreams, which you can check out here.) The Austin American Statesman will also have a story on the Stupor Bowl coming out in Sunday's paper I believe. This will be our second time in the paper (we were also in the San Marcos Record a little while back). Keep an eye out for the Statesman this Sunday!
One last thing - News 8 Austin is interested in filming the UFL for a live segment on its morning show! We haven't quite hammered out the details yet, but we will know more soon.
Also, the website is almost sort of functional!
